From the bus left Airlie and till I was at the hostel in Darwin, 30 hours had gone by.... And in Darwin it rained and rained, so I went shopping for gifts to take back home to Norway
and met norwegian Marte ![]()
Back in Sydney on the morning of 28 february my hunt for a specific cereal began...
(it went on for 24 hours
)
While it was going on I also went shopping for more gifts and some clothes for myself. They looked weird at me when I bought 4 jumpers in warm and sunny Sydney :D Ha Ha And I also tried to pack my bag.... Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
once.......twice.....
When I was walking over the street in Sydney down near central, I suddenly saw Waves Surf School's bus with Wayne Ducat as the driver and Kellie with Zoe on her arm collecting the customers money. Of course I went over to say hi :D We talked for a bit and Kel suggested I'd jump on the bus and go say hi and good bye to Vic at surf camp, but unfortunatly I had clothes being washed at the hostel, so didn't dare take the risk of losing my clothes. The bus left and I said bye to Kellie. I sure am going to miss my home in Australia, mostly surf camp but of course the snow as well. Thanks guys for taking such good care of me during my year away from home
means a lot to me!!! ![]()
Later that night I went to the movies and saw "Pan's Labyrinth", good movie but some disgusting scenes....auch auch auch
This being my last time in Sydney, I finally got my ass to the Chinese Garden Of Friendship, and it was very nice. Diffucult to get some nice photos though. I also went to Paddy's Market and then later to visit Pål( a friend from home that I went to school with). We had some vodka cruisers and Pål made some food for us. Thanks!! very yummi
We both were tired, so instead of going out I went back to my hostel and my bed there. Nice night ![]()
The next morning I went to Sydney Tower - nice view
and oz trek. Later on I just walked around, taking a few photos and enjoying my last breath of air in Australia(for this time
)
At the international airport it all went quite quick, the check in and boarding
Nothing much happened on my journey home to Norway. I saw a couple of movies - "Marie Antoinette", "The Queen", "The Illusionist" and "Dreamgirls" - in Kuala Lumpur we went off the plane and then on again. And in Vienna I changed planes, so I did some duty free-shopping there
When I landed at Oslo airport in Norway I ran to the toilet, I ran to get a trolley, I ran to get my luggage and I ran out of there.... And there I was welcomed home with a purple sign my sister had made and both norwegian and australian flags
so nice!!! By my mum and dad, my brother and sister, my aunt and cousin
after I had tasted some "Imsdal" again and hugs had been given out and my sister gave me her jacket and some photos were taken, we walked out to dad's new car. Me of course in no shoes, still just thongs Ha Ha Ha Ha So of course my cousin had to take some photos of that
Back home I ran out of the car and in to the house, saying "hi" to Christian(my sister's boyfriend) and giving him a hug before I ran upstairs to see my cat, Lucky
she's still little and looks like a kitten, sooo cute ![]()
I had a quick shower before I handed out gifts and showed my 15 stiches scar and we ate some pizza. A bit later we had coffee and cakes - I absolutely love VERDENS BESTE!!! ![]()

I took the ferry back to Townsville from Magnetic Island and went window-shopping - in the few windows that were there.... Ha Ha
After another 5 hours or so on the Greyhound bus, I jumped off in Airlie - that was wet wet wet, but the hostel was nice and warm with a huuuuge tv
The next morning I went sailing with Tallship Derwent Hunter. Got to say I really like sailing now!!!
We went to (names might be a bit wrong...) Hayman Island, Sid's Island, Hook Island, Whitsunday Island & Langford Island. But the only islands I actually stepped on was Whitsunday and Langford
Back in Airlie I've done absolutely nothing....as it has been raining and it's only one street.... Ha Ha

After 5 hours or so on the Greyhound bus from Cairns, I jumped off in Townsville and got the ferry over to Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island. The hostel had a pool and was right ON the beach, so it was 3 days of typical "sydenferie" Ha Ha

After spending the night on airplanes & Melbourne airport, I landed in nice & hot Cairns
At the hostel I took a quick shower and then got my ass to the postoffice. F i N A L L Y got to send "snusen" to Marte and a package full of gifts
home to Norway
When that was done I went shopping
in a japanese store I got dressed up in Kimonos with shoes and the girl working there even put my hair up
fun experience
in Australia.... Ha Ha After eating a very tasty burrito at a Mexican Restaurant, I went to the cinema. "Miss Potter" is a cute movie ![]()
The next day I was picked up 7:30 in the morning after only 2 hours sleep....so the start of my 2 day trip to Cape Tribulation was sleeeeepy
but I did wake up for our first stop "Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary" very nice place
Then we drove to the centre of Port Douglas. After almost falling a sleep again I went off the bus when it stopped and a short walk at Mossman Gorge -scary bridge!!!- before lunch. When we arrived at the river we jumped on a boat and saw a middle-sized crocodile on land, crabs in the mud, a frog in the tree, a young(small) crocodile and then big 4,5 meter long crocodile next to the boat...
cool!!! ![]()
In Cape Trib I stayed at The Beach House - a jungle right down to the beach. Next day I enjoyed the jungle, beach and pool
Back in Cairns I had some dinner before I went to the movies again. This time I watched the very good "Notes on a scandal".

Tuesday 6 february I got picked up by WesternXposure outside my hostel. There was the usual toilet & brekky-stop before our first tourist attraction..The Pinnacles in Nambung National Park. Cool!!
Before sandboarding we had lunch at a cosy little beach at Green Head
We stayed the first night at Kalbarri. And the next morning we had to get up at 05:00AM!!!!......crazy!!!! We saw the sun both rise & set that day
That early early morning we drove to Murchison River Gorge in Kalbarri National Park, where we saw Z-bend gorge & Natures Window. Nice!! After lunch, at one of those "roadhouses" along the road, we went to Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve. There we saw heaps of rocks that's alive...."Stromatolites"...Not that they did anything that proved it.... Ha Ha Before we reached Denham, where we stayed the night, we had a stop at beautiful Shell Beach
just a little bit too shallow to swim... ![]()
Since we already was in Shark Bay World Heritage Area we only had a short drive to Monkey Mia. Which is famous for it's dolphins & pelicans...at least the pelicans should be HaHa
We had a barbielunch with the emu's before we left to go see some sharks from Eagle Bluff Lookout. We stayed the night at Coral Bay, so the next day we could do whatever we wanted. I enjoyed the amazing beach
We drove further up to Exmouth that day. The day after our first stop was Vlahming Head Lighthouse, then we found heaps of info at the Visitor Centre. And since we already was in Cape Range National Park we had a look at Yardie Creek and enjoyed Turquoise Bay - lunch, swimming and snorkelling over Ningaloo Reef.
For dinner we had B U R R I T O
yummi yummi yummi!! Since it was Kat's(Belgium) birthday we also had balloons, hats and trumphets
Nice night! The following day was the longest drive. We drove all the way from Exmouth to Northbrook Farm Stay. First thing we did the next morning was to go visit Prince Leonard & Hutt River Province
very cool!!!
I got new stamps in my passport...
The prince itself guided us around his province & told us a whole lot in a short time. Right outside the border Sarah(our driver & guide) picked up a bobtail lizard to show us. Weird little creature that was biting it's own tail... Ha Ha Further down, towards Perth, we stopped at Greenough Wildlife Park where we fed & had a look at different animals, and had lunch. In Perth I had dinner with Laura before I went to the airport, flying to Cairns.

]]>The reason Kangaroo Island got the name they do, is because when the white fella asked the aboriginals "What are they called"and pointed at the kangaroos. The aboriginals didn't understand and said "kangaroo" - which means "I don't understand" & the white fella thought that was what it was called....
And kangaroos definitly do act as they don't understand when they run in front of each and every car driving past them....
After dinner at the camp/farm we went to look for pinguins. Tiny tiny pinguins
cute as...
The next morning our first assignment was to take photos of the Remarkable Rocks, which we did very well. We played some rollercoaster again, this time with the 4wd van
fun fun fun before we had a look at New Zealand fur seals. nice!! ![]()
Right before lunch, we had a stop at Flinders Chase Visitor Centre(the best one I've seen so far
) After lunch we enjoyed the beach by sunbathing, swimming, sleeping, snorkelling and playing.
What a wonderful life ![]()
After getting sunscreen and saltwater on our bodies, we drove off to Little Sahara for some S A N D B O A R D I N G!!! ![]()
Our last day on Kangaroo Island, we went on the "Hanson Bay Hike". After a few small lookouts(the nature made itself) and a little bit of wildlife(guana, echidna etc.), we found Simon sitting by the river and enjoying his drive to the other end of the hike(while we had walked for 3 hours
) hahaha
Our hike ended by the ocean, and we got to see some amazing white beaches
We had lunch back at camp and Simon made us get time for Australia's no.1 beach ![]()
I can definitly get the no.1 about that
Simon dragged us off the beach - he had to - cause we had an appointment at Seal Bay. There we went down on the beach where the seals were, with out own personal guide. nice nice nice ![]()
Our drive from Seal Bay to Penneshaw was one big party!! Loved it!! ![]()
Since our two fishingboats didn't show up, we got to take the expensive Sealink-ferry back to Victor Harbour.
Right before I was about to leave Adelaide, I had an interesting experience...
I was a hairmodel for Toni&Guy on the Hair & Beauty SA Expo. Which was fun fun fun and free colour & cut ![]()

]]>The story
During WW1 a lot of Australians went to Europe to save the world. And the same was 3 brothers from a tiny town in Tasmania. They left their mum thinking they were going on the adventure of their life. The woman was heartbroken watching all her children leave to fight in the war.
During the war there was a little man on his little horse travelling with yellow envelopes in his bag. In these envelopes was the soldiers name, place and how he died and where he had been buried.
The woman prayed and prayed that the man would not stop at her house. She watched as he stopped at other houses. And she felt extremely sorry for those he stopped at, but was reliefed everytime when he didn't stop at her door.
In France, Australia lost more men than France itself...
One day the woman watched as the man on the back of his horse stopped outside her house. She opened the door with tears running down and you can only imagine how heartbroken she was when he held out 3 yellow envelopes for her...
All her kids had died in the war.
In memory of the soldiers the town planted an alley of trees, which grew big and strong.
But a couple of years ago a branch fell down on the road, so the trees where getting dangerous, and it was decided that they where going to be cut down. The people of the town did not like this. They called for a guy that used a long time cutting down the trees. But the trees they finally were cut down and this is what he left:
war memorial 01
war memorial 02
war memorial 03
war memorial 04
I absolutely loved this story ![]()
On our way to the beach house in Bicheno, we stoppe at a waterfall - very nice
- and a white beach with turquise water, crystal clear - very very very nice!!!
We also drove through the town that suffered the most from the bushfire right before christmas 2006. The fire had just kept on till there was nothing left to burn, right down by the water. Sad sad sad
80% of Australia's bushfires are lit on purpose...and so was this as well...How sad is that... ![]()
The next day we started by walking up Mount Amos, which ended up more like climbing
fun fun fun
At the top we had a great view over Wineglass Bay +++ ![]()
"Wineglass Bay is such a romantic name of a beach, but it got it's name years ago when they used to drag the whales up on the beach and cut them up there. Having all the blood running down the beach, looking like red wine...Wineglass Bay"
After the walk/climb/slide we jumped in the freezing water at the beach where we had barbie-lunch yummi!! After cleaning up we drove all the way to Port Arthur. After dinner some of us went on a Ghost Tour down at Port Arthur Historic Site, with Todd as out guide. Interesting true stories, but not very scary(not even close to London...)
The next day we had all morning till lunch to explore Port Arthur Historic Site on our own. After lunch we drove to "Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park" where we fed Tasmanian Devils, roos and wallabies. And then we headed to Hobart, where the Adventure Tours trip ended.
On 29 january I got a plane to Adelaide, South Australia.

Ann-Helen slept to 4pm(16:00)!!!
When she finally got up, we ate some junkfood & thought about going to Adelaide(where I am now) and Kangaroo Island...but when we got online we booked tickets for Fiji Islands
![]()
A couple of hours later we waved goodbye to Perth from the plane to Fiji Islands
![]()
14 january we landed on Viti Levu, Nadi airport. We stayed one night at the island, before we headed out to Magical Mana Island
On Mana Island, we got fed 3 times a day at Rata Kini Backpackers, sunbathing(in the shade), swimming, snorkeling and trying to sleep at night(we pushed our beds right under the fan, after a tip from the swedish pear
)
What a wonderful life ![]()
oh oh oh we also danced Fijian Macarena ha ha we learned it during the Fijian Night
And we tasted coconut(kokonott er naa den offisielle oversettelsen
) & I tested what it's like being sunburnt on the ass... And I can say that it is very similar to being sunburnt on the eyelids!!

Back at Waves Surf Camp, my first home in Australia
Love it!! ![]()
I was the first helper to arrive, except for Johannes 21 yo internt from Germany. OH MY GOD!!! I felt sorry for Vicky already the first day!!! He says he's worked before - organising his own parties. He got a partyroom... (it was a struggle getting him to work without making a scene in front of the punters)
Well, enough about that!
Surf camp is back to normal...crazy partying. Poolparty!! Dancing nude and on the bar, pooltable, tables & chairs
My first byron-trip as a helper was fantastic!!
Playing games and singing around the camp fire in Yuraygir National Park
Love it!
Dylan entertaining the bus by chasing babybirds & roos HAHA Amazing fridaynight in Byron Bay as well. Thanks Tim ![]()
At surf camp I've been back at Seal Rocks, Lighthouse beach, Hawks Nest and been to Yagan/Yagon & Cellito beach. Love it! ![]()
I've also been on a roadtrip from Violet Hill Road, Bulahdelah, New South Wales to Blue Mountains...left camp at 7pm & got back at 7am... c r a z y, but fun ![]()
One fridaynight Annie(english) & I decided to PARTY PARTY!! starting with tequila
so much fun!! The next morning I didn't get up in time cause Will(South Wales) didn't wake me... b a d b o y!! Walking from The Boatshed to The Cabana I heard screaming & laughing... What the fuck!?!! The boss had the surf lesson in the pool, cause The Big Blue Bus was stuck outside in the mud. After a hot lunch and a trip to the huge town of Bulahdelah, the bus was free & I jumped on the bus and went surfing in freezing cold weather & water in my bikini with no dry clothes or towel to put on afterwards. And back at camp the hot water didn't work HAHA but it was So So So worth it!!
Halloween was all crazy...I'll try and get photos for you!!
I bought a dolphin in Forster one day, Annie got Steve The Crocodile. Back at camp, we jumped in the pool with them!
And noticed the guys by the boardshed - surfing in the mud with a rope and the troopy. Annie, Steve, me & my Pink Dolphin joined in on mudsurfing & mudwrestling. Hilarious day & night!!! ![]()

Jindabyne, Jindabyne...What happened in Jindy?
Well, let's see... I do remember heaps of partying and mornings where we were still drunk, & sleeping in the clothing shop and still manage to be late for work..Sorry, Mike! (At least I didn't get caught "swimming" in the clothes!! And what happened to the missing shoe, Grainne..? Did the nameless cutie give it back on the returns that sunday..or was it still by the window..? ![]()
And it wasn't me that had a serious fight with my sister, drunk as, or slept in the bistro -a bit too close- to the heater HAHA What a night!!
Hopefully Lauren & Kate is behaving over in Europe now!!
(Do you love London as much as me now..?)
But I was one of two that went to "Eskimo Joe" concert - very good! And I did make "fiskeboller" for dinner the tuesday Tim Silverwood got lost in the mountains.... Oh Well!
And I did run in Jindy's street holding on to a wheelchair HAHA the night we went to a Full Moon Party ![]()
Saturday 12 august 2006 I got Jackie to drive me to Jindabyne
where we picked up Paal
so crazy!!! I was over my head...so excited!!!
we tried to talk norwegian, but we failed-both of us HAHA Went to work next morning, still drunk & no sleep, started serving in the bistro but ran back up cause I seriously had to brush my teeth!!! That day I went from working in the bistro in the morning, to do fitouts in the ski- and clothing shop, before I did housekeeping & the clothing shop again at night. Didn't get to shower and sleep before 11pm...
On Mike's (the boss of the shops) birthday, we celebrated with chocolate cake & alkohol
such a funny night!! We got a new worker that night, arrived with the oz snow bus from Sydney at midnight, irish Ciara. She stayed up and partied till the end, with Lauren, Singha and me. The night ended with vegetable quiche OF COURSE
(and Lauren had some cocoa pops as well
)
The next morning, I should not have been doing the fitouts - dangerously climbing for boots...
Happy birthday on 16 august Ann-Helen!! Hipp Hipp Hurra ![]()
On Singha's birthday, we startet the day with bbq down at Lauren's place. And at 3-4pm we came drunk to work, where we continued drinking, after work we had a great partynight
(as usual)
We've had heaps of mornings doing fitouts still drunk...crazy!! ![]()
One saturday Mtv came and filmed the resorts & oz snow's partynight!! such a great night!!!
(again) HAHA (Did anyone see it on tv by the way??) That night ended with lots of staff helping cleaning the bar & even later I played with Zephyr 4 eva!!
(Didn't understand what all the bruises where about the next day) ![]()
A couple of days after Ben left to work in Canberra, I went to Tuggeranong in Canberra to visit him. Went to the cinema where we watched my new favourite movie "Silent Hill"
You just H A V E to see it!! Saturday we went to Sydney, to his cousins house and later to my first backyard party - birthday party FUNNY!!
(So sorry I don't have any photos of the toilet...)
The next morning we went to Ben's parents house, cause it was fathers day. Where they made me play backyard cricket for the first time in my life. (I have no idea what the point was, but I played it..I think!?!) HAHA I came along with Ben, his parents, 2 younger sisters and a little brother - such a nice family! I had the best day
hilarious
on a BBQ-boat - probably the funniest thing I've ever seen :D HAHAHAHAHA (too bad I don't have any photos - cause you're all missing out...)
Back in Jindy, I worked a little bit & had the best night - I think - my last night there. w a y t o o d r u n k Lauren and I went all crazy HAHA at Banjo's and later at Black Diamond before we got home somehow...
Next morning I started chasing down my bag
didn't find it
Left with the oz snow bus, but jumped off in Canberra where Ben picked me up. Went to Sydney the next day, where I stayed at his family's house. Ben shoved me Kuringgai National Park, where we had chicken and potatosalad sandwich for brekky, before we went for a walk and ended up on a little beach. So nice
(looked over to the beach where "Home & Away" are being filmed)
He also took me to a festival-thingy - Earthdance - where we met Laticia, Tim, Shane +++ what a hilarious and tragic day/night...
Laticia got a cut under her foot and while I was waiting for her at the first aid, when I ran off cause I REALLY had to pee. I fell about half way but kept on running to the toilet. Walking back to the first aid my leg seemed a bit weird, so when I came back to the first aid I said somebody might have to take a look at it. I looked down and saw blood everywhere!!! just pouring out of my left leg - it wouldn't stop. While they where cleaning it and saying I had to go get stitches, a guy bleeding from his head came in, so while I was waiting I just asked for some paper. Crabbed a taxi with Tim & Ben, at Tim's house we cleaned it and put stuff on it & went out clubbing...
Everything happening on sunday, tuesday I finally got my ass kicked to the doctor...where I got stitches and antibiotics pills and cream. Relaxed during the week and on friday I went to Annie's birthdayparty(Ben's younger sister) where I was drinking and dancing - S T U P I D!!! ![]()
Monday 25 september 2006 Ben, Lauren & Kate went to Europe. And I jumped on the bus to surf camp ![]()

On my way to Sydney I had a stop in Port Macquarie, where I stayed at the best hostel so far "Port Macquarie Backpackers". After a week actually making food (NO, I'm not talking about bread with hazelnut spread
) the manager wanted me to stay at the hostel and cook. Had a great time in Port Macquarie, taking it easy and working at a cafe.
When I got to Sydney I went to the bottleshop & got a little birthday gift for one of the norwegian girls, Mette. That saturday at Wig Ram road, there was a crazy norwegian "rolpefest" party. Everybody got extremely drunk from all the Hot'n'sweet, jellyshots, tequila & galliano shots + whatever people had with them...beer, wine, vodka ![]()
Crazy!!
The next day I met up with Mette, Ida & Eline(got my camera & cds back) we went to circular quay, and while we had our exclusive dinner I found some ?scary? photos on my camera, from the night before
except laughing the whole time I was with the norwegian girls, we tried to ruin for some guys trying to shoot some skateboarding tricks
Sorry guys! and we had some hot chocolates and I had to run up the escalators that goes down (its just something that norwegian girls studying in Sydney have to do...don't ask me!!) Such a fun day!!!
Loved it, thanks girls! (Mette, Ida & Eline: How is Norway? small?)
22 june 2006 I got up at 05:30am, without much sleep, took the train to the international airport waiting an hour for Andre. While he was in Australia we went a weekend to the snow, Thredbo. When we came back to Bondi sunday night at 00:00 we drove to Tamworth, where we just spent 2 days at Jackaroo & Jillaroo School(cause of my bad back GRRR) I even had the coolest horse, Gullable or Bullable. So we drove to Armidale where we had lunch before we ended up in a suite at Quality Inn in Coffs Harbour. There we went to a dolphinshow (they are sooo cute!!!!) ![]()

before we drove to Byron Bay where I saw my future surfboard at a place called something like "Earth & Sea". Next day we headed to Surfers Paradise where I had the best meal EVER EVER EVER!!!
salmon that wasn't fried or burnt
I was in heaven!!!
Then we drove to Noosa for a little bit of surfing at Sunshine Beach before we went to Rainbow Beach. The days after that was Tin Can Bay & Hervey Bay, where we went on a scenic flight over Fraser Island. On our way back to Sydney we stopped in Surfers again where we went on a rainforest walk & to Dreamworld. You won't believe what I did!!!! But I did it!!
I took The Giant Drop (and they kept us up there forever!!! horrible horrible But I did it!!
(kept on saying I would die, luckily no one else was norwegian :P) I was just a little bit shaky afterwards HA HA but a little while later I took The Tower of Horrer (and believe me it is the fucking tower of horror!!!!) it was h o r r i b l e!!! but I did it
(when I came back, the hotel balcony wasn't even a little little little bit scary anymore - YEAHY!) Driving towards Sydney again, we slept near Kempsey, so the next morning I got my iced chocolate in Taree(it's the best!!) & also got a second view from Cape Hawke lookout near Forster.
Back in Sydney we stayed at Swiss Grand at Bondi Beach. Such a nice breakfast!
(think I miss "norwegian" food just a tiny bit...
)
After Andre left, everything happened pretty quick. Slept above the Waves Surf School office & on the sofa where Vicky was housesitting. And I got to see how the busride would be to the snow again Vicky was driving the small bus after the van, when we found them, at the motorway, we changed trailers and drove back to Sydney ![]()
On friday I left for the snow, to go work, going in the small bus again to keep Ben company. What a great company I was, starting the trip with a phonecall and then not talking... Sorry Ben!!
So now I'm at Snowy Valley Resort in East Jindabyne, where I started working monday 17 july 2006. How about I end with that for now ![]()
